Did you know that 70 per cent of serious crashes involve fatigue? Or that being awake for 17-19 hours renders your reaction time equivalent to having a blood alcohol level of 0.05? You might be horrified to know you would cover more than 150 metres with your eyes closed if you were travelling at 110km/h during a 5-second microsleep. Although they might give you a quick pick-me-up, caffeine and energy drinks only offer a short-term remedy. There is only one way to prevent fatigue, and that is to get enough sleep.
