Kids encourage safe driving this holiday season

Winners were grinners with an important message of road safety at the Industry Road Safety Alliance South West’s Christmas Road Safety Launch.

The annual launch encourages road users to be mindful of the importance of driving safely each time they have a drink, with a reusable cup with road safety branding, a road safety message and their children’s artwork.

A competition was held across the Alliance’s catchment area, with each primary school or district high school invited to participate, along with the general community.

Hundreds of children across the South West put their artistic skills to help raise awareness of the importance of safety on our roads in the annual Road Safety Children’s Artwork Competition.

Artworks were judged according to their creativity, artistic merit and consideration of the road safety topic.

Winners were presented with their awards by the Hon. Mick Murray MLA, Member for Collie-Preston, who encouraged all young people to become road safety advocates.

Reusable cups have been produced as a part of this campaign to be distributed to participating schools, member workforces and the general community via member local governments.

These personalised reusable cups help drivers to associate safe driving behaviours with the people they care most about in the world, reminding them of the reasons to stay safe on the roads.

They also offer an opportunity for road safety messages to be shared through conversations with family and friends.

Pick up a reusable cup at the City of Bunbury, Shire of Dardanup, Shire of Collie, Shire of Harvey and Shire of Boddington administration offices.
